Women's Livestock Birthing is a 4-day multi-species program for women age 18 and up that focuses on the birthing process of goats, sheep, swine, cattle, rabbits and the hatching of chicks. Participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the daily rhythms of a working farm where they will learn animal husbandry skills and about Heifer International's work throughout the world to end poverty and hunger and care for the Earth. the program includes shared accommodations in our heated bunkrooms (with shared hot showers and full bathrooms), thoughtfully crafted meals featuring Overlook Farm produce and meats, dedicated access to the animals on the farm, frequent interaction with the Livestock Manager and residential volunteers, and an off-site field trip to a local farm or cheese-making facility.
